The city on the Costa Blanca lies in the province of Alicante on Spain's east coast and, with its airport and beach, is so compact that the distances stay short. Santa Bárbara Castle towers over the city, and children can ride the lift up, walk through old passages and discover catapults. The palm-lined promenade Explanada de España, with its wave mosaic, is a playground in itself, and children play in the shade of the trees while parents have a coffee.
At Postiguet beach you lie directly beneath the castle, with the sea and the old town within walking distance.
