Why this trip
Water that shines out of the limestone, so clear that rays of light appear like pillars: the cenotes in the hinterland of Playa del Carmen are the reason couples on honeymoon plan more than beach days. Playa itself is lively, with the Quinta Avenida as a promenade, but the sea lies right behind it, and if you want calm, you find it a few steps from the bustle. If you dive or snorkel, you have several dive bases to choose from, such as Scubascoolmexico Diving, often with excursions into caves and cenotes. The Ecopark Kantun Chi offers nature without haste, with pools in the jungle.
Cozumel lies off the coast for reefs, Akumal for turtles in shallow water, Tulum for ruins above the sea. November to April is the time with dry air. A hotel right on the beach, such as The Fives Beachfront, gives retreat without losing the town. Honeymoon designs the trip so that two lively days are followed by a quiet one, and coordinates this with you on a video call, without you having to fight your way through the offering.
