Day by day
Day 1: Arrival in Mombasa. Fort Jesus is a Portuguese fortress, with a museum of finds from Kenya's history. An impressive start in Mombasa that puts the place in context straight away. Afterwards you arrive at the PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa. Go in good time, before the midday heat builds up within the walls, and drink enough along the way.
Day 2: Haller Park. Haller Park is a nature reserve by the sea with paths and wildlife such as tortoises, giraffes and hippos. A soft, green day, good for strolling. Afterwards there is time to do nothing more at the hotel. A walk is quite manageable, after which it is time for the beach or a long lunch.
Day 3: Pembe Za Ndovu - Elephant Tusks. Pembe za Ndovu, the aluminium ivory tusks on Moi Avenue, are a landmark of the city. A short photo stop, plus a walk through the city centre. The rest of the day belongs to beach and pool. Have a Kenyan coffee in one of the cafés nearby and watch city life.
Day 4: Mama Ngina Waterfront. The Mama Ngina Waterfront is a waterside promenade where locals stroll in the evening. Go at sunset, buy snacks and look out over the water. Wild Waters would be the playful alternative with water slides. An ice cream or fresh coconut belongs to this walk and can be bought from vendors along the way.
Day 5: Haller Park - Butterfly Pavilion. The Butterfly Pavilion in Haller Park shows butterflies in a small garden pavilion. A short visit, nice photos. The rest of the day is free for beach and pool, and you decide how much to take on. Go early, when the butterflies are more active, and plan an extended lunch break afterwards.
Day 6: Nguuni Nature Sanctuary. The Nguuni Nature Sanctuary is an extensive conservation area with ostriches and giraffes, with picnic spots and guides. A day between meadow and wildlife, with lunch in the open air. Kuze is within reach as a further stop if your energy lasts. Ask for a guide to accompany the tour, and bring water and sun protection.
Day 7: Farewell to Mombasa. The Mombasa Go-Kart and Adventure Park offers a last bit of fun for couples who like speed. If you would rather stay calm, enjoy a last breakfast on the beach. Both are a good end to a trip that mixes calm and movement. Secure your places in advance with our team in a video call so that there is no waiting time on the day of departure.
