Overview
When in June the first mountain railways carry whole families up again, Switzerland shows what short distances with children really mean: from the station to the cable car, from the summit to the playground, from the lakeside back to the family room, and often without a hire car. The best time runs from June to September and thus falls nicely within the school holidays. In Arosa at around 1800 metres, children experience the Bear Land and the Eichhörnliweg, and parents never have to walk far to find sun and calm. Lucerne combines a boat trip on Lake Lucerne with an old town that can be explored on foot in a morning.
Interlaken lies between two lakes and suits families who prefer a fixed base with excursions into the mountains, instead of loading the luggage every second day. Practical is that public transport works excellently and tap water is drinkable everywhere, even at fountains and mountain springs. Only the weather in the Alps sometimes turns quickly, so rain jackets for everyone belong in the luggage. How many stops your family goes along with can be discussed in peace in the video call with Swiss Vibes.
