Day by day

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech. The Jardin Majorelle is a garden in luminous blue, with exotic plants, water features and a museum of Berber culture. A gentle introduction to Marrakech, as it is quiet and shady here. Afterwards you head to the hotel to take in your first city air.

Day 2: Jemaa el-Fnaa. Jemaa el-Fnaa is the square where the city comes together: food stalls, musicians, storytellers. Go in the late afternoon when the light turns soft, and stay into the evening. Hold hands, because it gets crowded and loud.

Day 3: La Pergola. La Pergola is a place for a calmer evening. Spend the day slowly, with shade, mint tea and a book, and go out for dinner in the evening. Marrakech rewards pauses without you noticing. Reserve early with our team in a video call if you have a particular evening in mind, so that the table is secured.

Day 4: Bahia Palace. The Bahia Palace has numerous rooms, courtyards and extensive gardens. Go in early while the corridors are still empty, and look out for zellige, cedar wood and light. A place for slow steps and quiet conversation. Bring comfortable shoes, as the paths through the courtyards and gardens are long and the ground is uneven.

Day 5: Koutoubia. The Koutoubia Mosque is the city's landmark. It can be viewed from the outside by non-Muslims, and its square with gardens and fountains invites you to sit. A short visit, then a long afternoon at the hotel or by the pool. Comfortable shoes and something to drink are all the equipment you need.

Day 6: Madrasa Ben Youssef. The Madrasa Ben Youssef is a Koranic school building, with tiles and carved wood. Walk slowly through the courtyards and look up. A morning of craftsmanship, followed by a quiet walk through the medina. A look at the details is worthwhile, as ornaments and calligraphy say much about the craft of that time.

Day 7: Le Jardin Secret. Le Jardin Secret is a palace complex with Islamic gardens, a shop and a café. Afterwards you go to the El Badi Palace, whose walls and orange grove are still standing. Two places of calm in the old town, ideal for a slowed-down day. If you like, sit in a café afterwards and let the impressions sink in.

Day 8: Farewell to Marrakech. In the Souk Semmarine you find fabrics, spices, antiques and noise. Haggling is part of it, but without haste and with humour. Bring back a keepsake, pack in peace and say goodbye to the medina over a last mint tea. Take cash in small notes and carry valuables on your body, then shopping stays relaxed.
