Why this trip
If you get up early in Ubud, mist lies over the rice terraces, and smoke from incense sticks rises from the temples. Bali is an island where religion is part of everyday life, and for many travellers that is the appeal of a lifelong wish. The best time is from April to October, in the dry season. Sea temples such as Uluwatu and Tanah Lot are among the well known pictures of the island.
If you prefer to be under water, you will find diving schools with trips to reefs and wrecks. For retreat there are houses such as Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape and the Raffles Bali, both with a focus on calm and service. The journey is long, approx. 14 to 17 hrs with a change, and therefore you should plan more days for Bali than for a destination in Europe.
Yogyakarta on Java is possible as an addition, with Borobudur and Prambanan. What matters is that the island is not over-planned: a day without a programme is among the most beautiful you can have there. In the video call you first fix the occasion.
