Overview
Hundreds of unspoilt islands off the coast of the Red Sea: that is the promise of a new coastal project in the north-west of Saudi Arabia. The water is clear, the reefs are largely intact, and sandbanks emerge between islands that can only be reached by boat or seaplane. For couples this creates a new form of retreat, with stillness, starry skies and desert directly behind the sea. From October to April temperatures are bearable, in summer it gets very hot.
Families benefit from the proximity of calm lagoons and from snorkelling spots where children watch fish. Arabic is spoken, in hotels also English.
