Overview

The Bay of Kotor looks like a fjord but is a drowned river valley, and its shores are pressed close to the mountains. From May to June or September to October water and air are warm, and the roads are not yet overcrowded. In Kotor narrow lanes lead through the old town to the city gate, and a staircase climbs to the fortress above the town, with a view of the bay.
