Avoiding single supplements: tips for women
You can limit single supplements by choosing trips with a roommate option, properties with genuine single rooms, or the low season. Ask about this specifically before booking. Swiss Vibes is a Swiss travel agency offering video consultations and compares suitable offers for you.

Solo travellers often pay more per person because hotels price rooms for two. There are, however, ways to limit the surcharge.
Why the supplement exists
Hotels often price rooms for two people. If you travel alone, you occupy a room that would otherwise hold two guests, and you pay more per head. This applies equally to hotels, round trips and cruises. Similar mechanisms apply to flights and cruises too, but every provider handles them differently.
The amount varies considerably by provider, season and room category. Some properties charge a fixed surcharge, others only part of the double room price, and others none at all. Always compare offers on the basis of the total price per person and not only on individual supplement items.
So don't just ask about the price, ask about the specific arrangement: what is included in the single room, how big is the room, and does the supplement apply to all nights?
Finding a roommate
Some group trips for women offer the chance to share a room with another participant. If no partner is found, the supplement is dropped entirely or capped, depending on the provider.
Before booking, clarify how the allocation works and by when it is settled whether you will share a double room. Also ask whether you can have a single room confirmed if you feel uncomfortable. And ask whether you may switch to a single room free of charge if your roommate cancels.
Sharing can also be an opportunity: many women get to know like-minded people this way and spend excursions and evenings together. What matters is that you feel comfortable.
Low season and flexible dates
In the low season rooms are cheaper and supplements are often lower, because properties are less full. Spring and autumn suit many destinations and bring a pleasant climate and fewer crowds. Check which services might be limited in the low season, such as excursions or pool opening.
If you are flexible on date and duration, you are more likely to find periods with good conditions. Even shifting by a few days or choosing a particular day of the week can make the difference.
Check public holidays and school holidays at your destination. At peak times single rooms are scarce, and properties charge surcharges that you can avoid with a little planning.
Properties with genuine single rooms
Small guesthouses and boutique hotels often include single rooms in the basic rate or offer smaller rooms for one person. They have no double-occupancy surcharge in the classic sense. Apartments and small studios are also worth considering if you like to cook for yourself or want more space.
Pay attention to room size, bed and facilities, not just the price. A small, quiet room in a central location is more pleasant for many solo travellers than a large double room with a supplement. Some travellers also prefer a single room because it offers more peace and rest.
In the consultation, ask about properties geared to solo travellers that offer, for example, a shared breakfast table or communal areas.
Group trips with fair rules
Some providers run trips specifically for solo travellers, where the supplement is dropped or reduced. This applies above all to group trips with a fixed hotel allocation. Ask whether booking early or extending the trip lowers the supplement.
Compare what is included in the price: meals, transfers, entrance fees and tour guide. A low supplement is of little use if services are added separately. Also check whether the tour guide and tips are included.

Consultation and comparison
In the [planning call](/m/women-only/planen) by video call, we compare options and explain conditions so that you understand them. You see where your surcharge arises and what levers there are.
Early booking terms can reduce supplements if you commit early. We check back with the local partners and review single room allocations.
That way you decide with a clear picture and without nasty surprises. Also read the cancellation and rebooking terms, so that flexibility does not become a cost risk. Note down the terms so that you can decide with confidence if changes come up.
