Why this trip

If you step off the train in Grindelwald in summer, you see the Eiger north face standing almost vertically above the village. The Bernese Oberland shows its mightiest side here, and for travellers who want to celebrate an occasion in their own country, the place is a beginning with impact. The Firstbahn carries you up to a ridge with a view of glaciers and the Eiger, and the Eiger Express leads towards the Jungfraujoch. From Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen you reach the Jungfrau region, with hiking trails you can walk for a whole weekend.

In winter it becomes a ski area, but the best time for hikes is from June to September. Interlaken by the lake lies close as a neighbour, and Zermatt and St. Moritz form further Alpine destinations. A marriage proposal on a ridge or an anniversary with a view of the Eiger needs good weather and a reserve in the plan, because the mountains do not always show themselves.

Huts and hotels in high season are booked early. A conversation in the video call helps to determine the period and the routes.
