Planning a luxury wellness weekend
For a luxury wellness weekend, choose a destination with a short journey, reserve treatments before you travel and deliberately plan little programme. Two to three nights are enough if the journey out and back is not too long. Luxury is a Swiss travel agency with video consultations.

A weekend is enough to switch off, as long as nothing unnecessary gets in the way. For that, short distances, clear appointments and a property with real calm matter more than a faraway destination. This guide shows how to plan a wellness weekend so that the time stays where it belongs.
The right destination for two to three nights
On short trips the journey counts. If you plan two days of travel for two days of rest, you recover less. Choose a destination you can reach in a few hours, for instance in the Alps or in northern Italy.
Switzerland itself is also suitable, above all mountain regions such as the Engadin. There spa, nature and good cuisine meet short distances. If you want to travel further, it is better to plan four to five nights. For distant destinations, retreats such as those in Bali make sense, and the guide to [Bali retreats](/m/luxury/ratgeber/bali-retreats-wellness-villen) has more on this.
Food is part of a good wellness weekend. Many properties offer light, seasonal cuisine and drinks without alcohol. Say beforehand what you prefer, and do not let yourself be pushed into a programme you do not want.
Choosing the property and spa
Not every spa suits every wish. Some properties focus on sauna and calm, others on treatments, exercise or nutrition. Ask which zones are reserved for adults and when they are busiest.
Check the catering too. A property with good cuisine that responds to your wishes is more important than the number of treatment rooms. Inform the property beforehand about allergies and preferences.
Plan some exercise as well. A walk, swimming or a quiet yoga class complement treatments. In the mountains, paths around the property are an option, by the sea a walk on the beach.
Reserving treatments early
Good appointments go quickly at weekends. Reserve treatments as soon as the accommodation is confirmed. Allow time to rest between appointments instead of filling every slot.
A sensible plan has one or two fixed points per day and nothing else. That leaves room for a walk, reading or a long breakfast. On request we take care of the reservations and put the times in writing in your documents.
After the weekend, a free Sunday evening at home helps so that everyday life does not start at once. Plan the return so that you arrive in the evening and have nothing left to do.
Creating calm
Calm also comes from going without. Decide when you read messages and when you do not. Many guests agree fixed times or leave the phone in the room.
Ask about quiet times in the property, about rooms away from the lift and the bar, and about the position relative to the spa. Discretion is part of this, as we describe in the guide [Travelling with discretion](/m/luxury/ratgeber/reisen-mit-diskretion-privatsphaere).
If you spend a weekend as a couple or with friends, plan shared and separate times. Not everyone wants the same treatment, and an hour alone can be as restful as a bath together. Discuss this before the trip.
Health and notes
Wellness is no substitute for medical treatment. Anyone with a pre-existing condition, who is pregnant or who takes medication should clarify sauna sessions and treatments beforehand with their doctor. Notices in the spa must also be observed.
Tell the property about restrictions in good time so that suitable treatments are chosen. We pass on your details confidentially. Before trips abroad, check the current position on entry and health with the FDFA (EDA) and the FOPH (BAG).
Example of a calm schedule
A successful weekend has a clear but relaxed schedule. On the day of arrival, after check-in there is time for a walk and a quiet dinner. Avoid too many appointments on the first day.
On the second day one or two treatments are the focus, with rest in the spa or in the room in between. A late walk and a longer dinner round off the day. On the third day a late breakfast is enough.
Plan the departure so that you are not under time pressure. If you come home rested, you get more from the weekend. We put all times in one document.
