Why this trip

Jakarta is the first thing you meet in Indonesia, and many travel on quickly. But anyone who stays a day or two experiences a metropolis with skyscrapers beside a colonial old town. From April to October is the dry season, and getting around the city is more pleasant. The National Museum of Indonesia shows art and history of the archipelago and gives orientation for everything that follows.

The National Monument Monas stands in the middle of the centre, and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah presents the regions of the country in a park. For accommodation, consider the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, the Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya, the Hotel Ciputra or the Merlynn Park Hotel. Bali, Yogyakarta and Lombok are neighbours in the archipelago, and the flight there is short. Traffic in Jakarta is dense, so drivers with a time reserve are almost a must.

The journey takes 14 to 17 hours, and a night in the city eases the arrival. For the visa, the country information refers to visa on arrival or eVisa, which you should check in advance. Luxury clarifies in the video call whether Jakarta is enough as a stopover or deserves one night more.
