Why this trip

Turtles in the shallows, no bouncers, no crowds: Akumal shows the Riviera Maya at its calmest. For a send-off with little programme pressure and plenty of water it is a good fit, and the group stays together without having to agree anything in advance. During the day there is snorkelling in the bay and excursions to the Xel-Há and Xcaret parks, where the group experiences waterways and lagoons together. The ruins of Tulum are nearby and suit half a day of culture before heading back to the beach.

If you enjoy nature, the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary is another stop. Between excursions there is time for the hammock and conversation, and anyone who gets up early can have the bay almost to themselves in the morning light. Evenings stay quiet, and partying here is more a long dinner with a view of the sea. If you want more going on, head to Playa del Carmen or Cancun.

The best time for Akumal is November to April, when the water stays clear. Whether the quiet bay suits your group is something you settle in a video call with Bachelor Trips.
