Why this trip
Lyon is regarded as the capital of gastronomy, but anyone who only eats overlooks the city behind it. Between the Saône and the Rhône stretches a fabric of hills, passages and squares that is best explored without time pressure. On the Fourvière hill the Basilica of Notre-Dame keeps watch, and beside it the Roman Theatre and the Gallo-Roman Museum bear witness to antiquity. In the Croix-Rousse district the Mur des Canuts tells of the silk weavers, and the Parc de la Tête d'Or is the place for a quiet morning.
If you like the unusual, visit the Musée Cinéma et Miniature or the Jardin des Curiosités. For demanding stays the data name the Hotel de l'Abbaye, the Sofitel Lyon Bellecour, the Hotel Carlton Lyon and the InterContinental in the former Hôtel-Dieu. May and June as well as September and October are the best months. From here Chamonix, Courchevel or Val Thorens can be reached.
Your framework is planned carefully and discreetly. A table in a traditional bouchon is reserved in advance so that the evening begins without waiting.
