Why this trip

Anyone who knows Alpe d'Huez only as a ski resort knows half of it: on the sunny terrace above the Isère, summer works too. The travel period from May to June and September to October brings clear air, empty paths and rooms with a view. The Sarenne descent is considered notorious and remains reserved for skiers in winter. In the village itself there are several houses with a spa, including Le Castillan, the Hôtel Chalet Mounier with restaurant and spa, the Hôtel Daria-I Nor and the Grandes Rousses Hotel & Spa.

They differ in size and style, and the choice depends on whether you prefer a chalet feel or hotel service. Up on the mountains there are mountain restaurants such as that of the Caisse lifts Bergers, which invite you to a long lunch. If you travel on, you can reach Val Thorens, Courchevel, Val d'Isère and Chamonix from here, each with its own clientele. The video call shows whether skiing, spa or both is your goal, and how arrival and ski pass can be eased in terms of time.
