Why this trip

Seven shades of blue, fresh water and no roar of surf: the Bacalar lagoon in the south of Quintana Roo is a place where movement becomes slow. Here you paddle on a board or in a kayak across the water instead of collecting ascent, and feel your shoulders and core more than expected. The Canal de los Piratas leads through narrow waterways, and the Isla de los Pájaros is visited for bird watching. The Ecoparque Bacalar offers access to the lagoon with jetties and nature.

The Laguna de los 7 colores gives the place its name and attracts above all in the morning, when the water still lies calm. If you want more movement, hire a bicycle and explore the shore, or visit the nearby cenotes for swimming. The lagoon itself is shallow and calm, and therefore also suitable for beginners in a kayak. Sunscreen and a sun hat are still part of it, because the water reflects strongly.
