Why this trip

Current instead of surf: off Cozumel divers drift along the reef, and the island counts as one of the best diving destinations in the world. The water is crystal clear, the coral gardens are alive, and the dive sites suit the experienced as well as beginners with a guide. Besides the dive bases there are snorkelling spots on the reef, the Coral Reefs Monument as a protected zone and a beach club for rest breaks. The Punta Sur Eco Beach Park in the south of the island combines lagoon, beach and small islands, ideal for paddling and snorkelling.

If you would rather experience the depths dry, board a submarine of Atlantis Submarines. On the west coast the reefs run in such a way that drift dives are possible: the current carries you, and you hardly need to paddle. That is pleasant, but demands good buoyancy control and attention, so that the reef stays untouched and you surface at the right place. November to April are the dry months.
