The Hassan II Mosque rises directly on the Atlantic, and its minaret is among the tallest in the world. A walk from the old town to the mosque along the Corniche is the best way to understand Casablanca: sea on one side, city on the other, and in between a walking route in the sea air. Casablanca is rarely a travel destination, but often the arrival point for Morocco tours, and that has advantages. Here the first stage can be taken calmly, with the Arab League Park as a green island and Dream World for family groups.
From here you reach Marrakech, Fez or Chefchaouen directly, where the Atlas and the Rif offer hiking routes.
