Why this trip

The Titlis is the local mountain of Engelberg, and at 3,238 metres it offers glacier air in the middle of summer. The monastery village in Central Switzerland lies in a valley basin from which paths lead to lakes, alpine pastures and the edge of the glacier. From June to September the hiking routes are open and the lifts are in operation. The Titlis Glacier Cave can be visited, and the Brunni lifts take hikers onto high-level trails with a view of the valley floor.

If you want to test your fitness, climb on foot from the valley station and collect several hundred metres of ascent before a break awaits at the top. In winter Engelberg is known for deep snow. The Engelberg valley floor is flat and suits warming up, whereas the path to the Fluhmattli and the Alp Ristis already demands more fitness.
