Why this trip

At this altitude, at around 1,800 metres in a high valley of Lombardy, breathing in summer is easier if you are used to it, and harder if not. Livigno is a place for everyone who does not fear ascent. From Mottolino and Carosello 3000 paths and trails start that lead over ridges and alpine pastures and are also ridden by bike in summer. The high valley is wide, the routes are long, and the sky is often clearer than in the valley.

If you seek nature, you find it in the side valleys, where marmots whistle and streams run over stones. The reservoir offers room for paddling and walks, and the resort is a venue of the 2026 Winter Games. As accommodation the Mota Hotel is listed. The best time to travel for hikes is between April and June as well as September to October, although snow may still lie at higher levels.
