Orange trees line the lanes, but anyone who wants to be active in Seville above all needs good footwear. The city can be explored best on foot: from the Parque de María Luisa across the Plaza de España to the Catedral de Sevilla and the tower La Giralda. Together that makes a route that can be spread over a whole day. Expect many hours on cobblestones and deliberately plan a break in the shade at midday.
The Royal Alcázar forms the heart of such a tour, with courtyards, gardens and Moorish ornaments that demand time for looking.
