Why this trip
The Caminito del Rey is what lures many active travellers to Málaga: a narrow path clinging to the rock walls of a gorge and running with a view into the depths. It lies in the hinterland and requires no climbing equipment, but a head for heights and some fitness. Anyone planning it should sort out tickets early, because the number of visitors is limited. Beyond that, the Costa del Sol offers more than beach.
The Montes de Málaga north of the city have paths through pine forest, and the climb to the Gibralfaro above the old town is worthwhile for the view of harbour and sea.
